You Were The Soundtrack of My Summer

I love waking up to a sunny day more than anything in this life. There's something about waiting up to a beautiful day that can even improve the worst mood.
Spring in reality isn't my favourite because
1. my pants always drag, i'm too short.
2. i don't like my feet getting wet in the slush.
3. driving is questionable.
4. i have to go back to work.
I can't wait for summer. The last two summers have been legendary and I expect the same from summer oh twelve!
Everytime I drive by Bashaw my heart just falls thinking about the shows. The countdown will begin once final week is done, and I'm freeeee!
Tonight I'm going for supper with an old friend, and it has made this monday easy to get through. I think that's the secret to having a good day is something to reward yourself with either that day or week.
I'm hoping the ultimate reward comes to visit on friday, but if not everyone come out to Lauron Bull Sale at Olds Cow Palace on April 7th @ one. http://www.facebook.com/#!/events/299574043445313/
which will be another solid good time!
Happy Easter to everyone & best of luck on finishing your second semester with your head above the water!

You Know You're Getting Old When...

So as I' 'm halfway through midterms, a cold is just on the horizon. I have studied more in the last two weeks than I probably did through out my whole k- grade 12 career. Which brings me to my next point, I'm getting old.
I have been invited to more eighteenth birthday parties than.... than well, I'm not sure what but alot. And Andie got her license. And Gus has a girlfriend....
But next week is reading week, so the light is within sight. I have my killer math midterm tomorrow, so if I live through that, I probably going to treat myself to my fourteenth new pair of sweat pants and a new phone case.
As a side note, my math tutor is probably saving my life and keeping my sanity stable. And is the only human being i've interacted with on a regular basis in the last two weeks.
So to those who read this, and those who see me in the next week, be sure to recognize how remarkable it is i'm still living and breathing.
To everyone who is trying to get through midterms, best of luck!

"people might forget what you did & what you said, but they'll never forget how you made them feel."

It's absolutely amazing the affect you can have on others. There's the obvious, role models, heroes, remarkable people like old Abraham Lincoln, or maybe you're a Sandra Bullock person, or gosh knows maybe its even Oprah.
But what I've really been thinking about is the people you actually know, and interact with on a regular basis.
Theres the good, like your Grandma who teaches you to bake bread, and your dad whose just the greatest man who ever lived simple as that.
Then there's your friends who are there, or at least say they'll be there. As long as we're being honest we both know that you learn who you can trust pretty fast these days. I like to have three categories. The first, my friends, second my acquaintances, and third those who would love to watch me fall on my face but pretend to be my friend so they know if I've fallen metaphorically or literally on my face recently.
Then of course there's people you have romantic relationships with. Those are the people who can bring you up or take you down in a simple look, text or tone of voice.
In conclusion, just think about those in your life. Remind those who mean a lot to you what their true value is. Let your haters hate, honestly it's kind of rewarding to have their criticism on such a regular basis when that requires so much time. And most importantly just be you, cuz I bet it's pretty sweet.

Having Your Haters

Everybody has heard a friend, coworker or sibling say the dreaded, "they just hate me, I don't know why." Heck I've said it myself, probably in the last week. And in such a situation you're probably given reasons like, "oh they're jealous you're so pretty," or "they wish they were as smart as you," or my favorite, "it's just cuz you have everything they want." Right ha, that's what I think sarcastically in this situation, cuz I have to much to be jealous of.
But if you think about it more, everyone wants what they can't have right? So maybe they do just dislike me cuz of my charming wit, flawless etiquette and group of friends.
With this being said, I know people think I "hate" them and if you truly believe that and are reading this, I am almost certain its not true. First of all said "hating" takes far too much energy and effort. Secondly as I was discussing with Goose last night, everyone has something to offer you, so why would I deny myself that? As a side note, everyone knows my goal is to be everyone's friend, so I would never lose that opportunity with petty dislike.
I guess what I'm hoping you get out of this (hoping that someone is infact reading this...) is that you need to stop assuming that oh she "hates" me cuz that's probably not true, and even if it is you're probably wasting your time worrying over a person who isn't worth the time.
Always remember, "confidence is a stain they can't wipe off," as Lil Wayne would say in this situation...

Whose to Blame?

This morning I started on my final paper for English. Impressive right, it’s not due for like three weeks. But that’s not the point. The point is I have 1500 words. So as I’m racking my brain to how I’m going write that many words when it occurs to me, that’s not all that many words.
If you reflect upon anything, even as simple as a text message or Facebook wall post, the average one is twenty to fifty words. A lot can be said. That’s like two to five or six sentences, depending on how articulate you are… and of course that you’re not a thirteen year old girl who answers in variations of, “haha ;)” “yeah” “:)” which I’m pretty sure doesn’t require to be sent if that’s all you have to say. (and a winky face is always a bad idea, unless you have weighed out the consequences).
The power of words has been sung about and written about, there have been movies and gosh known what else. Perhaps one of the most annoying misuses I know of is of the phrase “I love you.” I watched “The Last Song” yesterday which was a bad idea to start with because I don’t even remotely like Miley Cyrus and she completely ruined the book, however in that movie the couple pronounces this love for each other in like five minutes of their relationship. Yeah, I know movies speed up sequences of events. But come on. You really shouldn't say "I love you" unless you mean it.  That’s just common sense. However that brings me to my next point, if you mean it, you should say it a lot.  People forget.
I never realized how many of my pet peeves had to do with words actually. The one that bothers me the most is bullying. If you have nothing nice to say, don’t bother saying a thing. Simple as that. People text crap every day, and they wouldn’t say majority of it, that’s a fact. So don’t be that loser it’s a waste of time. We should all just get along.
Yeah, that’s all I got.

The Truth About Being Foreign.

So originally when I knew I would be attending the National 4-H conference in Toronto I never really gave it much thought to be meeting people that were that different from me. You know the drill, we're all in 4-H, majority of us are involved in agriculture, we like to have a good time....
Then it hits me as we begin meeitng people, we are different. Even though we are all from North America, there are big differences....

Like those Sasky's.... Even though we share a border they have all these weird slang terms.
Points in question (which I learned in Weyburn in this summer but I like to bug them all about them)
1. Hoodie vs. Bunny Hug.... HAHAHAHA. I laugh everytime. A bunny hug, really?
2. Show Stick vs. Show Cane.... This is mostly just really unfair because I start to think about Christmas.

Then there were the Newfies...
They were fascinating from the start because of their wonderful accents.
The tried to teach us their slang, but all we got out of it was being called an unpainted car... and they told Goose she had a face like a wet boot...
They also actually swear like sailors.

Those were the most striking differences. It was super sweet to mingle with the 4-H elite from continent wide. Once again, the sponsors rock from providing us with the opportunity. I met so many people the fact I have a friend everywhere really rings true.

Ps: a big thanks to those who told me I had an accent, that still makes my life to hear.

My Name May Not Be DQ, But I'll Sure Treat You Right

Tonight at West 57 we had a very big night. We had taco salad for supper... And we went Halloween costume shopping. Mostly for Duncan, we dropped $40 at Value Village and he's a happy little bird.
I hate to brag but his costume is kinda awesome, consisting of my yellow bedroom shag carpet I got from sexy Brett for grad, a yellow sweater (which I can see a 40 year old man jogging through his midlife crisis), black nylons (we had to youtube how to put on nylons), black gloves (wth did we pay $12 for a pair of those things in dance? we found pairs for $5!!) and red crocs.
So basically, he is going to be a VIP this halloween and I have probably never been so impressed with him.

A week from today I will be on a plane to Toronto, so that city better prepare itself. Goose and I plan on stocking up on classy attire tomorrow. I may get myself a pair of those fancy grown up boots. Who knows where the day will take me.

I am also super jacked for this week to be over! Not that it's any different from any other weekend, I just have my reasons.... I plan on using all my cheesy pick up lines and my charm. ACE!
